I'm using a TC Electronic RH450 head direct to FRFR. Also, where you place your "picking" hand (I use fingers only no picks) and your technique has a great effect on the sounds. Switching the pickup selector (and using the push-pull to 4001 tone settings) gives a decent amount of flexibility. Deep is my McCartney-esque tone, using the bridge pickup gives it more definition Growl is my Chris Squire-esque tone Bright is my treble Ric bass tone. You can get these tones with a good bass preamp / amp with good EQ or a PEQ or Semi-PEQ.Ĭapturing Chris Squire tones is tougher (for me, without a tube amp pushed to edge of break-up), need "just enough" distortion that cleans up or presets My amp has three presets, which I call/characterize as Deep, Growl, Bright. I had a 4001, and my main bass is a 4003 (my main guitars are Rics too). I would not go by his bass setting visuals ![]() ![]() It is my understanding that George played bass on 'She Said, She Said' as youll notice there are no Paul. but he didnt venture too close to the bridge much in the Beatles days, though he did with Wings. ![]() ![]() You can see the volume / tone controls in the pic you posted, though not sure which is which on a lefty, and his was an early model IIRC.
